David has extensive training, education, and experience in facilitating group projects.  At the same time, he has a well-honed instinct for identifying effective strategies within the nonprofit context.  Most importantly, he has the wisdom to balance the two, knowing when to offer content and when to focus on process.

Before launching OD180 Consulting, LLC, David provided executive leadership to several organizations, guiding them through major financial and programmatic turnarounds and into new stages of maturity and stability.  These included: Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen (New York); The Oasis (Newark); Church of St. John the Evangelist (San Francisco); and Episcopal Community Services (Minneapolis).

He has served on a number of national and local boards of directors in various capacities, including chair, vice chair, secretary, and development chair.

David completed his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree magna cum laude at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.  He holds two master’s degrees, a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Yale Divinity School and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management (M.A.O.M.) from Antioch University Los Angeles.  Yale has honored him twice, receiving a Dean’s Citation for Community Service and a Distinguished Alumni Award.  He completed the Institute for Executive Director Leadership at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.

David Norgard teaches courses on nonprofit management and advancement at Antioch University Los Angeles (AULA), where he is an associate member of the faculty in the Organization Management Program and an adjunct faculty member in the B.A. Program.  He also presently serves as the Chair of the Alumni Council.

David serves as a member of the clergy at All Saints Church in Beverly Hills and is a priest of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.  He is an honorary canon of St. Paul’s Cathedral in San Diego.

He holds memberships in the Los Angeles Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-GLAC), the California Association of Nonprofits (CAN), and Board Source. He is registered with the Attorneys General of California and Minnesota as Fundraising Counsel (California #FP0002406, Minnesota #01139).
